INTRODUCTION
The field of Civil Engineering and its allied infrastructure industry has been the trademark of Pakistan’s finance from last many years. It is the largest employment sector and earns the highest amount of foreign reserve. Being the largest industrial sector, it needs a huge workforce with prominent level of skills. The Department of civil engineering is established to engage the brightest students of the country and equip them with all skills necessary to manage the civil and urban infrastructure industry.
The Department of Civil Engineering is distinguished from other institutes in several ways. It has state of the art labs related to designing, manufacturing and testing of all kinds of building materials as well as road materials and other infrastructural entities. It is offering a degree in civil technology which is more focused on hands-on experience. Civil technology program has a staunch emphasis on more practical contents than theory. Continuous industrial visits, internships and projects will make the graduates more suitable for modern civil technology requirements.

The concerning faculty and staff is being hired upon strong grounds of competence who will be dedicated to educate our students such that they are best equipped to serve the nation and the world as scholars, academic leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs. Our students shall be the agents who would make an impact in the world as professional, academics, and innovators. MISSION
The mission of the Department of Civil Engineering is to train and equip our pupils with modern and well famed level of competence in knowledge and education, keeping in view the social and industrial needs. The department is committed to enhance the capacity of students in problem solving and process improvement. The overall goal of our department is to expose the students to the scientific processes involved in civil and infrastructure industry.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
Educating our students is our core objective, and students are our inspiration. They will come to PTUT ready to learn, ready to conduct research and ready to solve the world’s biggest problems. Our students will not only be dedicated to their academics, but they will be the determinant and vibrant members of the PTUT community.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE AND CAREER PROSPECTS
The duration of the program is 4 years with 140 credit hours. The graduates of the Department of Civil Engineering will be able to serve building infrastructure, road networks, water treatment systems and other projects associated with the construction industry.

LABORATORY & OTHER FACILITES
The Department of Civil Engineering contains materials testing lab, surveying lab, fluid mechanics and other allied high-tech labs which are associated with highest degree of state of the art equipment. Materials lab is established to broaden the student’s horizon upon learning and dealing with specific material properties such as hardness, toughness, abrasion and ductility etc. Surveying lab makes into practice the art of constructing plane tabling maps, conducting ground surveys including chaining details and measurements of angles and elevations. The fluid mechanics lab deals with the fluid geometry and fluid properties such as turbulence, Reynolds number etc.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The eligibility criterion focuses on the students’ performance in the secondary school examination result which accounts for the 10% of the total grading. Then, the higher secondary school examination/Equivalent Diploma degree result, which weighs of 60% of the total, while the remaining 30%, is primarily focused upon the students’ performance in the entry test.
